Asphalt Driveway Repair in New Jersey

Prompt driveway repair prevents small problems from becoming expensive ones. Cracks, potholes, and edge deterioration allow water to penetrate the asphalt and reach the base — accelerating deterioration and eventually requiring full replacement. HomeCraft Paving & Masonry provides driveway repair services throughout North and Central New Jersey.

Crack Filling

Cracks in asphalt pavement are the entry point for water. Once water reaches the base, freeze-thaw cycles expand the crack and begin to undermine the base material. We clean cracks thoroughly and fill them with hot-applied rubberized crack filler that bonds to the asphalt and flexes with temperature changes. Crack filling is most effective when performed before cracks widen significantly.

Pothole Repair

Potholes form when water infiltrates through cracks, saturates the base, and the asphalt surface collapses under traffic load. We repair potholes by removing the deteriorated material, compacting the base, and filling with hot mix asphalt. Proper pothole repair requires removing all loose material and achieving good compaction — a cold-patch repair is a temporary fix that will not hold long-term.

Asphalt Patching

When damage is localized — a section of failed base, a utility cut, or an area of significant deterioration — we perform full-depth patching. We saw-cut the damaged area, remove the deteriorated asphalt and base material, recompact the subgrade, install new base material, and pave with hot mix asphalt. A proper patch is nearly invisible and will last as long as the surrounding pavement.

Edge Repair

Driveway edges are particularly vulnerable to deterioration. Without proper support, asphalt edges crack and crumble over time. We repair deteriorated edges by removing the damaged material and installing new asphalt with proper compaction. Belgian block edging can be added to provide permanent edge support and prevent future deterioration.

When Repair Is Not Enough

Not all driveway damage can be economically repaired. When cracking is widespread, the base has failed, or the driveway has reached the end of its useful life, full replacement is the better investment. We assess your driveway honestly during the free estimate and recommend the appropriate scope of work — repair when it makes sense, replacement when it does not.
